Each year, First Tee reaches 3.4 million youth. Their program enables kids and teens across the world to develop inner strengths and character that they’ll carry with them everywhere. This amazing youth golf program builds strength of character through teaching life skills in golf. They create engaging learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do.
Launching in 1997 as a partnership among the LPGA, the Masters Tournament, the PGA of America, the PGA TOUR, and the USGA, First Tee makes golf affordable and accessible for all kids. Golf offers more than a fantastic day out, it develops strong values that individuals can take forward in their everyday lives. On the course and beyond, golf supports honesty, integrity, honesty and respect.
Over two decades later, First Tee committed to helping kids build character strengths and important life skills through the game and providing all kids with access to opportunities for personal growth in a fun and safe environment. While they began on golf courses, First Tee has expanded by bringing golf programs for youth to physical education classes across the country through in-school and after-school programs.
First Tee’s mission remains as important as ever, to empower kids and teens through the game of golf. The First Tee youth golf program focusses on five key commitments: pursuing goals, growing through challenge, collaborating with others, building positive self-identity, and using good judgement. All the while, coaches help kids and teens involved to focus on mastering golf fundamentals and building upon their skills as they advance within the program.
Sports are the number one extracurricular activity for kids to get involved in, and they help build confidence and character. Establishing programs for youth encourages development while they have fun at the same time.
Golf is a perfect practice ground for learning skills that go far beyond the golf course. This is especially true when First Tee coaches are trained in how to build positive mentoring relationships with kids.
